The Ghost of the Cabin

People talked to us so much about last week's drink with pineapples (actually two people talked to us about it and we tend to exaggerate) that we decided to make you another one this week. Again this week, the drink is strong though. As they say - it'll put hair on your chest... not always practical for everyone, so beware, summer and swimsuit season are coming.

Live from the old countries, the Alchemist has therefore concocted a mixture for you at the junction of the new world and the old countries, via a detour through the Andes mountain range (obscure reference to the Cities of Gold... we are the age we are after all).

This week you will need:

-1 and 2/3 ounces of cognac (try Lock 4 Apple Brandy)

-2 teaspoons of maple syrup (if it's good you can put 2 tablespoons)

-1/2 ounce of our Ptit Réduit

-3/4 ounce of fresh pineapple juice

-1/2 ounce of fresh lemon juice

-1 pinch of salt (fresh too, as long as we're going fresh)

To make the recipe it's not too complicated, you put everything in your best Mason jar with convenience store ice (because there's no more ice from house cornices and convenience store ice all stuck in a lump always tastes better), you stir it until it's very cold and then you filter it into a glass that was once a mustard jar you found at your dad's camp (a 1988 Calgary Olympics glass would also be acceptable).
