We're taking our shoes off (Québécøl Mule)
This week, my dear enthusiasts, we're offering you a cocktail fresh out of our minds. It's the first of the year and we had the opportunity to discover the power of the Québécøl Mule. We're not shoemakers who go barefoot, and when we decide to kick off our shoes, we do it with our own products! Plus, when we have such beautiful 100% Québec products, it would almost be embarrassing not to kick off our shoes for special occasions.
We also wanted to tell you about a character straight out of our festive fairy tales, and I'm talking about none other than Régis MoylSAQ. Even as a child, little Régis "snitched" on his friends who found a way to have more fun than him. Later, as an adult, he found a job where his main task was to look over people's shoulders to tell them what they could or could not do. In other words, Régis was a bit like the Québec version of Scrooge. In this case, we could call him Scrøøge... we'll stick to our usual special character palette. But at one point in his life, little Régis let himself be won over by the holiday spirit... we'll come back to that next week because, dear enthusiast, while you're listening to me ramble, you don't have a glass in your hands, and at Québécøl, we find that unacceptable.
So here are the ingredients to kick off your shoes (the Québécøl Mule)
-1 and 1/2 oz of CØYØT (our bourbon STYLE liqueur)
-1 oz of our Smoked juniper and maple Mistelle (P'tit Réduit)
-1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
-Ice
-Ginger ale or ginger beer
Making the cocktail is not complicated, so simple that you'll feel like we whipped it up in a hurry, already with one shoe off at midnight on the 31st. You'll put your CØYØT and your Mistelle in a highball glass, adding the lemon juice. Fill it with good ice and top it off with your ginger soda. Our friend, the bartender at Alphonse restaurant in Old Québec, introduced us to the joys of ginger beer after a long day at the German Market before Christmas... something to try if you want to vary things up.
