Quebecois Mulled Wine

Hello, enthusiasts,

it took us... 5 years before we put our wine on the market, and a good 3 years of that was just developing it in close collaboration with our friends from the Biomass Technologies Laboratory at the University of Sherbrooke. But one thing was certain within the Québécøl ranks: as soon as we had one, we would make a Glühwein. And when the Lac Mégantic Christmas Market crew asked us to formulate one, we played hard to get, but deep down, we'd had the recipe in our pocket for... about 5 years. So, we asked Mrs. Claus to give us a look as if we'd been naughty this year. She gave us a look that suggested she couldn't wait to see Santa again, and then we were in business (though a little uncomfortable, we must admit).

I know we tell you every week, but this week, you REALLY must try the recipe of the week if you like mulled Christmas wines. Plus, it features our exceptional maple wine (the ) and our seasonal liqueur, Cranberry, Raspberry, and Labrador Tea.

Here are the ingredients:

-500mL of 2Ø - our exceptional maple wine

-250mL of our Cranberry, Raspberry, and Labrador Tea Liqueur

-250-500 mL of pulp-free orange juice

-1 star anise

-10 cloves

-1 cinnamon stick

-4 tablespoons of maple syrup

Mix all ingredients in a stainless steel pot and let simmer on low heat for a nice half hour. Do not bring to a boil, or Mrs. Claus will scold you (personally, I always bring it to a boil so she can scold me). Then serve in clear coffee cups (it's less good in non-clear cups) and you can garnish with an orange slice and a cinnamon stick.
